LED lightboxes brings Saudi to life

Signs’ News: Modern Signs were engaged by Gaze Commercial to construct and install an impressive LED illuminated feature to a recent fit-out done by Accent Interiors designed by National Creative Director; Siavash Momeny from Gaze.

The creative was a small challenge in itself however the outcome was outstanding and beautiful to say the least.

The vision was to showcase an illuminated image of the Kingdom Tower from Riyadh as a backdrop to a very stylish office space, towering 2.5 m high by 5 m across, Modern Signs were able to construct 5 lightboxes that bought the Kingdom Tower to life within this environment. With dimming control ability the client is able to set the mood of the illumination to suit the environment.

The other challenge was to mount a 3.5 m wide x 4.5 m high LED lightbox on the ceiling. The vision was to create an overhead feel of looking up to the sky amongst a date palm setting in Saudi Arabia.

This lightbox is also dimmable so the client can adjust the illumination to suit the mood of the reception area. Both lightboxes with fitted with gold anodized aluminium trim to enhance the overall feature.

Working alongside a great architect and excellent builders that have a great vision and project management skills is always rewarding.

Getting creative with the new LED Block

Last year we saw the birth of a new LED product called LED Block. This block is 30mm in depth and is designed to cut out fabrication time for small to medium sized illuminated letters for building signage.
Modern Signs were contacted by the Bay of Island Swordfish Club in Piahia and were asked to supply 3 new designs to replace their dated Neon Swordfish on their building. The quotes varied from typical aluminium sign case structure through to 30mm LED block.
After much discussion the decision was made to create a new illuminated Swordfish from this block. With much research and development Modern Signs were able to achieve the desired result for the client.

Engraved solution perfect choice for Warren and Mahoney Architects

With the capabilities of being able to do in-house engraving Modern Signs was the perfect choice for Warren and Mahoney Architects to turn to for a large pacific games village complex in Port Moresby of Papua New Guinea

This multi-level complex required a durable permanent signage solution for all the rooms numbers, fire safety door signage requirements, way-finding signs, toilets and amenities plus complex block numbers. The complex needed a total of 5,713 signs in various sizes and designs. Two fonts were selected where one lot of signs was single line and another batch being multi-line, Arial and Gothic fonts were the selected font choice for these signs.

After a few discussions with Modern Signs, Warren and Mahoney agreed that the specification was to be an engraved silver ACM material. Once the ACM was engraved it left a permanent black outline to expose the wording required for each sign.
